The iliad is a very great mystery. Because if we started with the question, how did literature start? We would imagine that our first composition would be something for a specific purpose and occasion. But what the iliad was for is a far, far more difficult question to answer. And it's a great mystery because it's not a pleasant poem. I think we've already sat publish that. It's not pretty. The olympic games is, of course, war minus the shooting. So in other words, in the ili ad you have war plus the shooting. The iliad are power, military exercise in a very nasty way.
