The Similarity Between Eccentric and Concentric Hypertrophy Effects
I think people are making the assumption that fatigue is reducing the mechanical tension when it's primarily reducing shortening velocity. So there's kind of an issue there in terms of understanding what's happening physiologically. The really interesting thing about eccentric versus concentric studies is that they don't always produce the same hypertrophy. But with at least like you said we saw when we got into these light loads to failure there was nothing going on there That we weren't seeing different to heavier moderate loads as long as they were taking to the same degrees of failure proximity to failure one of the other.
