The Great Snake Phobia Epidemic of the 1960s

David Barlow comes in and starts working with Joseph Wohlpe on this idea in the mid to late 60s. And sort of rebrands it as exposure. The way you overcome a fear of something is you expose yourself to that thing until it doesn't cause a fear responseuntil you habituate to it per again, the basic research of the behaviorists. Called it the great snake phobic epidemic of the late 1960s. So we did this analog research and analog research would be recruiting all these college sophomore usually women who are afraid of snakes.
