After World War II, the Netherlands and France, UK, Germany all embraced basically a similar vision to the US. A lot of these countries have changed course. The Dutch themselves blamed car domination in part on the imported American engineering model. Finland drove the American engineers out with street protests. We don't want your traffic engineers in this country.
