'Bernard Mc Fadden'

The book is about bernard mc fadden, an orphan who reinvented himself as a man. He was sent to the cheapest boarding school he could find after his mother died of tuberculosis. Children were barely fed and only calories they could reliably get came in the form of peanuts - which are now being sold as hog feed for a dollar a ton. After several months of slowly starving to death, bernard's mother came for him.
