Marketers are stuck in that short term view of digital marketing. Some companies do go there and say, ah, we're going to measure on life time value,. And it actually fails. It's not because lifetime value is inaccurate, but because a company feels like their giving up everything they learned over the decade to transition to this new metric. The success that i've seen with companies actually making this transition is relatively simple. They just start surfacing lifetime value alongside all their existing metrics.
