Lactate is actually shuttled around the body, whether it's shuttled between muscle fibers of the same muscle or different muscles of the body. And that really suggests that we're getting a lactate stimulus. But if lactate is a stimulus, then we're not just getting a stimulus from lactate producing muscle fibers, but also potentially getting a stimulus in lactate consuming muscle fibers.
