Jamil is an expert in all things empathy, and he is the author of The War for Kindness. His writings have appeared in outlets such as The Atlantic, The New York Times, and Time Magazine.

In this episode, Eric and Jamil chat about their recent paper on how market societies shape people's moral behavior. They discuss why people seem so cynical these days, and why cynicism can be a double-edged sword.
