The Role of Rapamycin in Calorie Restrictions
There is nothing that can do everything that caloric restriction does exactly the same way. But we do have some things that will mimic parts of caloric restriction. One of those is rapamycin, a drug that inhibits a protein called mTOR. The mechanisms by which rapamycin is extending lifespan is similar to the mechanisms by which caloric restriction is extending lifespan.
