The Effects of Rapid Glycogen Depletion on the Body

Glycogen is the way your body stores sugar and for each molecule of it or each gram of it, more accurately, you have a couple grams of water. So when you go on a keto diet, you lose about seven pounds in the first week. That's just the water that was stored with the carbs that your body doesn't have anymore. And then what I found in Smarter Not Harder is that if you rapidly deplete it and then you relax so your heart rate comes back down, that's when you get the most gains. It's the pause whether we're talking about muscles or in the case of cardio too.
