The Origins of the Word Delete
The first reference to like deleting a word from a manuscript comes from around 1600. Even before we had the word, we used to blot things out, destroy, eradicate things and erase by smudging. There are lots of things that were deleted before words were deleted by the delete key. John: "I think it speaks to how radically technology has changed our lives within my lifetime"
