The History of the Public Apologies

In 2021, Paper Magazine declared that the Notes Apopology was cancelled. The act of apologizing is one that is deeply necessary for functional society but at this point apologizing is so commodified as to be useless. To help me understand the history of the public apology, I called up Arab Louie from NPR's throughline podcast which recently did an episode on this exact topic. We talked about everything from the encyclopedia Britannica to Mackelmore to the 2020 George Floyd uprisings. All of that after a short break.
