The first thing that typically happens when walk into a conversation is the recruiter will ask you something like, can you tell me a little bit more about your salary expectations? Now in a lot of places, the recruiter of the cmpany is not allowed to ask you for your current salary. But they get around this by asking you what your expectations are. So again, research is key. Knowing your value up front is key. Once that's established, i'm more than happy to talk salary.
