I find that really interesting because on the one hand, I want to argue, why don't we make the content actually matter? Let's just do the stuff that you is actually engaging the student regardless of what that is. It's very hard for people to be sufficiently humble when it comes to predicting what will be useful 10 years from now. And I think there definitely is this implicit and sometimes explicit understanding that letting people sort of follow the threat of their own aliveness will lead them to be more engaged.
