How to Train for Deep Work
The Pomodoro technique involves giving yourself a fixed amount of time to concentrate intensely on a single task. If you break your concentration at all, so even just a quick check of an email inbox or a phone, you have to reset the time. The default state in your life is one where you do not try to resolve problems by turning towards some sort of algorithmically tuned attention engineered source of lightweight entertainment. So I actually recommend that your mindset has to flip.
