I was working all the way up to half marathon pace, never faster than that. And then so on the day that pace was still really daunting. Now because I'm constantly training at five K and 10 K paces as well, actually, when I then drop down to my half marathon pace it feels like, OK, this is still a stretch. But I know what faster than this feels like, which mentally is so nice. The psychology of it's so important.
