The Dejoonum and the Illeum of the Smallintestine

The duodenum brings all these components together, bringing the pH up to a more standard level and then the material passes through to the dejoonum. The small intestine also has a highly specialised mucosa structure. In some sense, it's almost the opposite of the stomachs in that while the stomach has these pits that contain cells that excrete substances into the stomach, the small intestine almost has these tentacle-like structures that project into the lumen.
