The first thing to start with is pain is discomfort, because in my experience, it's easier to notice when you take the time to notice. And then noticing the kind of discomfort, I think that's the place to start. So just as an exercise, for example, if you are sitting, there's probably some part of you,. that's not going to be content sitting that way forever. There's some information that wants you to change. If you do start a meditation, and the instruction is find a find a comfortable position, I think find whatever position you're in and start to notice the discomfort, and then allow yourself to adjust to see what makes the discomfort go away.
