The Gartner hype cycle is all about what happens when new innovations come into societies or industries. What always happens at the beginning is everyone gets really excited and thinks it's going to be brilliant but then the hype doesn't always live up to the reality. That's what's happened with online ads in the history in the last 20 years since they arrived. The third part of that hype cycle is that actually expectations start to improve again because we've learned and we know how to use it really, really well. We reach a new level where the expectations meet the reality and actually it's just working.
