The Importance of Comparing Software to Physical Products

Every screwdriver, we're manufacturing a new every time. We didn't start with something that was designed to be strong and built out of strong materials. That's just not the way software works. I think this is a big part of why engineers tend to over-engineer because we're sitting here thinking like, well, they're never going to give me time to actually do this right.
