The Evolution of Custom Emulator Tutorials

The moment these like metagame are co-opted by Nintendo is the moment that there's the erasure of the kind of practitioners and artists who were developing them in the early years. The folks making Mario maker aren't the same team as R&D4, right? They're like young people being trained up at the studio. Of course they're engaging in culture in a different way than the original team did. I don't find it hard to believe at all that these folks had seen these types of Mario experiments, especially Kizo.
