How to Make a New Thing in Magic

A lot of what makes for compelling content is subdivision in a way that's different than previous subdivisions. Magic had this problem of we want you to do new things with cards but it uses all the things magic already has right because if I make mechanics that are brand new they're very limiting. We started doing this thing called batching and whatbatching says is what if you take things that already exists but you thematically connect them so that they make something that is new. The metaphor I'll use for this is baking like cooking like there's not often you add a new ingredient it's not often Like food is food the ingredients are the ingredients most people that are baking are not inventing
