What Is the Due Process of Law Clause?
The due process of law clause is about guaranteeing both process and law. It guarantees a judicial procedure through which acts of government are evaluated as to whether they pursue what are regarded as constitutionally legitimate lawful ends. This is somewhat unusually what might think in the concepts of the constitution: A positive right to government protection of you against private violence. The whole point of the so-called social contract is that in return, for entering society, we get better protection.
