Is It a Hedge or a Derivative?

I have to ask why long only when there are so many opportunities on the downside. And I would imagine there are all sorts of opportunities on the short side where you could see something starting to circle the drain and make a bet to the downside. So is that more of a hedge or what I'm hearing is three of your four strategies seem to be primarily long?
