How to Apply Your Will to Overcome Challenges
When you are able to apply your will toward a behavior change like that, that in and of itself becomes very rewarding. And I would guess that maybe my neuroscience is wrong here, but I would guessing that that begins to drive dopamine in its own way. You start to get addicted to the feeling of being able to overcome things that are challenging. That's what it means to be an assertive active human who can figure out what you want and make it happen.
