If you think someone has a respiratory limitation, what I would first start with this structure and make sure the position of the axial skeleton is in check. Then make sure they have good breathing mechanics. So kind of covering some of those fundamentals like don't throw them into hard start intervals if like they look like a human cashew hunched over to breathe properly. It's not going to get you what you're looking for. But assuming we check all those different boxes, I think a really conservative way to start it would be something like a 500 meter repeat,. starting roughly five to six seconds faster than their 2k pace and finishing the interval roughly five to 6 seconds slower.
