In the days before fractls were a thing, this was in the early seventies. The book from mandelbrog is didn't really catch on till around the 19 eighties. I think he had a smaller book on fracts that was around the mid 70 but i wasn't aware of it. But anyway, so i was capable of being inspired by pure math. It just took a masterful teacher. That one was not so much for public consumption as the later, fractile geometry of nature, i think that's what it was called.
