The AGI Conference Series Hasn't Grown as Big as It Used to Be
The AGI community hasn't grown as big as I might have liked it, but sometimes a modest-sized community can be better for making intellectual progress. On the one hand, you're not going to talk to the leaders of the field there if you're an outsider. Also, you get it with Society for Neuroscience Conference. You have 35 or 40,000 neuroscientists. But yeah, it's been a big shift. Like back then, you couldn't really. give a university department seminar that mentioned AGI or human-level AI. It was more like you had to talk about something more short-term and immediately practical than in the bar after the seminar.
