Translating Natural Languages - Do You Have a Comparative Construction?
I think a lot of the time people, especially early, they keep much too close to the original syntax or whatever is their translating. If you get hung up on a particular word, especially if it's an idiom, then you need to step away and think about how to express the concept, not necessarily the word. And my sort of test for whether I'm doing the translation right is whether it's hard to get the phrasing right. It will be different enough that you have to think very carefully about how to phrase things, how things work.
