What does it mean for something to feel personal?
Really, the question is: what is the sense of personal?
Is anything truly personal? How could it be?
What if the sense of something being personal is sort of like a scent that arises along with some objects (the body, memories, emotions) but it’s nothing special or different from any other object arising in awareness?
An experience of the body arises with a sense of personal, just like a pen arises with the sense of being “not personal”. What if all these arisings are just that – all equal arisings in awareness, none actually more personal than any other?

The (now) annual Summer Book Club is back!
Beginning in late July, I’ll be leading a group of people through the book What’s Wrong with Right Now?: If you don’t think about it by Sailor Bob Adamson.
This book is a collection of teachings and dialogues that are uncompromising and direct pointings to the fact of our own being.
We’ll have weekly calls, a forum for support and sharing insights, and Bob’s wife and co-teacher Kat Adamson will join us for a call at the end of the course.
I would love for you to join me! Go to dramyjohnson.com/bookclub to register.
