How Important Is Recovery After Running a Marathon?

There is no benefit of one over the other as long as the intervals are not too large but if they are 30 minutes or less I think that's perfect. If you have another run coming up and this is something that will happen in periods of very hard training then maybe you want to refuel a little bit more aggressively. Usually the window that we work with is 8 hours. The question there is how and when is your next run and how important is it to recover? Some individuals just prefer not to drink too often and others try to kind of sip small amounts all the time.
