How to Diagnosis Metabolic Acidosis

The delta delta is something that has historically confused many learners. If you have an anion gap of say 24 and normal is 10, then what you want to do is subtract the expected or normal anion gap. So in this case, 24 minus 10 would be 14. Then let's say that they have a bicarb of 10. If you kind of took their anion gap acidosis away, meaning that you brought their anion Gap down to 10, you'd bring their bicarb up to 24. And so you would not have a non gap acidosis or an alkalosis. You only have your gap acidosis.
