Is There a Taper in Strength Training?
The study designs are just generally not indicative of what most people would do for maximal strength. One easy, very, very simple thing that can change these results considerably is whether or not there is a taper into testing for strength. Ander: What's going to be best for strength gains in the short term is not necessarly what's best forstrength gains in the long term.
