Sheng-Yin, the Chinese Zen Master, has recommended to his students that you can try to give yourself a feel of just bare attention. The essential idea is to regard whatever arises directly with no thought, interpretation, examination or questioning whatever. In this activity there should be no self-reference or involvement of the self in judgment or intention. Find I fall into doing this sometimes when I'm taking a daily walk and one where in my neighborhood just all these katapa trees as we walk by really interesting old trees and just to look at them without thinking of the name, just appear.
