The Link Between Gut Health and the Immune System
70% of the body's entire immune system resides in the gut. The gut microbes literally cannot survive without fiber to do that function. When fiber is digested unfortunately it can't be digested in the small intestine so it does travel to the large intestine where it's fermented by bacteria. This produces something called short chain fatty acids also known as metabolites which actually helps regulate our immune system.
