Robustness: A Product of the Conditions

The system as a whole is robust in the sense that, you know, small perturbations from the outside and nudge, slight damage to the system. It does not stop the system from functioning or the system from self organizing. The other point you make that I really enjoy is that you can grab a handful of hands out of the end colony and you don't kill the colony. And that presumably comes back to this concept that it's not centrally controlled. So taking away a little chunk doesn't disable it. Just like we're carving off a piece of the internet doesn't kill the internet.
