Herpes Virus
Herpes virus are famous because and after the acute phase, they can go laten. And so is this perhaps a model of mherpes virus going latent? This is an interesting question. So what they're looking at here is an acute model. It's actually a scarification of the eye that you use to get the virus to go into the brain. Its like one in 200 thousand people have the virus goes into the brain,. But sometimes it goes ong way. In mice, a certain fraction of those mice will have latent infection, and you can reactivate them. You actually have to put them in a water bath and heat them up to reactivate the virus.
