Herpes Virus

Herpes virus are famous because and after the acute phase, they can go laten. And so is this perhaps a model of mherpes virus going latent? This is an interesting question. So what they're looking at here is an acute model. It's actually a scarification of the eye that you use to get the virus to go into the brain. In mice, a certain fraction of those mice will have latent infection, and you can reactivate them. You actually have to put them in a water bath and heat them up to reactivate the virus.
