Building in Public - A Promising Way to Build an Audience

I wanted to make a hundred percent sure that my own personal brand as founder and writer is an honest, transparent and objectively correct one. I write books and i sell them. I consult for founders and they pay me. And it took a really long time for me to say this proudly and without feeling like i was making myself vulnerable or doing something wrong. It's dangerous to extend this level of self denial, financially, into our ance building activities socially. When we trick ourselves into believing that we are doing selfless work, when we are actually motivated by a very selfish rational, we're also tricking the people we interact with. Successful audience building doesn't involve tricking people.
