In Our Time

CHAPTER

The Rebellion of Henry the Second

In the autumn of 74, Henry makes peace with his sons and actually makes a compromise with them. And he gave her house arrest for the next 15 years. She's at that point completely taken out of public view as if she's not seen as one of the players. There is a story, and we don't know whether it's true, that when she was captured, she was dressed as a man. It says again about her going against social order and the natural order of the world.
