The First Punic War

The first punic war, as i said last week, was marked by poor judgment on both sides. And ironically, it was the victorious romans who seemed to make more bone headed moves than the defeated carthaginians. Regulus blew an opportunity to end the war, and because he let his ego get in the way, the conflict dragged ten years longer than it should have. The north africans were undeterred in their quest for territorial expansion. In that larger game, the carthaginian still obviously felt confident that they could win.
