If you've just had a meal and you suddenly get chased by a lion or a tiger, then you better believe your body's diverting its energy to your muscles rather than your digestive system. And so at that point in time, you really don't care about resting and digesting. Same kind of thing goes for inflammation. If you have an injury, then you're going to need the inflammation to come through to get all of the injured and dead cells out of the area.
