How to Compare Levels Across Zones?
The idea of 60 minute workouts being sufficient until they're not dissipates more rapidly with different types of workouts. You'll get to a point where you can do all five hours, all week long, endurance level, one straight hour each time and it will hit the ceiling much sooner than any variety of VO2 max workoutsyou could slot into that same hour. And this is why you can't compare levels across zones. Because there's a huge swing in there about what percentage, like relative to FTP you are. We base everything on an FTP and trainer road, but with our progression levels, it really gets unpaired from FTP.
