I was thinking about your work and how much you have served start ups, especially over the years. And i think there's some overlap in one of the big overlap areas are that a lot of folks in our listening audience have started their careers with passion or technical expertise. Do you run into that with founders too? Absolutely. So, thett e difference in what you descry betwein sort of professional who kind of works their way into the managing lard team is that with founders, the entry level position is leader, right? I the first role they take is the boss.

Our human tendency is often to side-step problems that we need to address.
By the time you take action to fire somebody, you are likely months late.
Just because someone was effective in the role previously (or in the last role) doesn’t mean their role is right for them today.
It’s helpful to be prescriptive in conversations leading up to firing on exactly your expectations — and the actions the other party has agreed to.
There’s no way to fire someone without it being awkward and painful. You’ll need to make peace with that before you take action.
