The Role of Color in Malting Quality Characteristics
When we considered the entire population all 175 lines, our own color as measured by a colorimeter was highly correlated with a lot of the malting characters that we were measuring. However, when we looked at this biperental subset, the smaller selection of lines that had the same genetic background, for the most part, those relationships weren't there. So whether or not they were blue or white was a bad predictor of their malte performance. Mm hmm. That makes a lot of sense then. We might see a trend looking at the global population data because, you know, strains that were in there, trended towards blue in that study. Yes.
