In monogamy, monogamous culture, they really value and dictate that we don't discuss or acknowledge other relationships. Also in your family life, you may have grown up in a family where no one ever talked about things like sex. And then speaking of those deeply ingrained feelings, a lot of it comes down to embarrassment or shame. Just kind of want to acknowledge that these factors can really influence a lot, how comfortable or uncomfortable we are with certain subjects.
