The Benefits of Using Smooth Shaders in Mario Games
Doug: The chunky pixels that you did, and you talk about this actually pretty extensively in the GEC talk, it's gorgeous. But I was wondering if there ever was a moment where it wasn't just a benefit, like whether they ever had to design around them. Doug: It leaves less room for the player to fill in the depths in their mind and have a little more imagination with how things look in detail. So I really enjoy leaving it on chunky pixels.
