Are You Overloading People of Color in Committees?
Tori: We want people of color to be visible in these committees. In doing so, we have actually potentially hurt or punished their careers because they have even more labor that they have to do that's uncompensated. They're really stuck in this double bind where they're asked more to do this service and they're expected to say yes. It is not going to help in terms of seeing success in your DEI initiatives if you are loading people down with this work.
