If you build muscle that's still weight building in all these areas above our knees disproportionately to how our body was actually designed so we're already off on a bad foot no pun intended i got to remember that line it's a good one. If we're not training tibialis then we're essentially designing a body that's more designed to have knee pain right? We don't actually load hip flexors with squats and deadlifts and leg extensions because most of us have tight hip flexors which can't pick up your kneecaps. The simple act of getting those shin muscles stronger will help reduce the impact that comes into the knee in the first place.
