The Incentives in the System

You've been in exceptionally successful researcher, almost 200 published academic papers. It's extremely rare for an eminent scholar like yourself to care so much about teachingb frankly, there's no incentive in the current system to do so. You're certainly right about the incentives in the system. I have, i guess, rebelled against this for four and a half decades at columbia.I keep insisting that being a first rate researcher and being an excellent teacher and mentor are not fundamentally incompatible.
