The Role of Collagen in Blood Pressure
Elastin is a different structure primarily found in skin and blood vessels so not nearly as ubiquitous as collagen. Less abundant than collagen smaller overall much less respected than the stiffer even more ubiquitous collagen by the way is 100 to a thousand times stiffer than elastin. Vascular allic dalen syndrome caused by mutation in cole 3a1 responsible for the production of type 3 collagen. Hymns patients lacking type 3 collagen have vessel fragility leading to multiple problems including thinning stretching, aneurysm formation and disblebbing.
